1. Use of Google Analytics Analysis Software

We use the analysis software “Google Analytics”, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (“Google”). Google Analytics uses a tracking cookie to recognize a user who has previously visited our website. The cookie is a small text file stored on your computer that enables an analysis of visits to our website (so-called usage profiles). The tracking cookie has a lifespan of 2 years (default setting).

The information generated by the cookie about your use of our website (including your IP address) is generally transmitted to and stored on a Google server in the USA. Google Analytics has been extended by us with the code “gat._anonymizeIp();” to ensure anonymized collection of IP addresses (so-called IP masking).

Your IP address (the number assigned to your computer by your internet service provider) is shortened by Google on our behalf within member states of the European Union or other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area before transmission. As a result, the usage profiles generated by Google Analytics are anonymized, meaning that identification of a specific person is effectively excluded. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there.

Google also complies with the data protection provisions of the “US Safe Harbor” agreement and is registered with the “Safe Harbor” program of the U.S. Department of Commerce.

The usage profiles contain, for example, information about length of stay, approximate geographic origin, source of visitor traffic, exit pages, and usage paths. Google uses this information to evaluate your use of our website, compile reports on website activity for us, and provide other services related to website and internet usage.

The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics is not merged with other Google data. Google only transmits this data to third parties where required by law or as part of commissioned data processing. Under no circumstances will Google merge your data with other data collected by Google.

By using our website, you consent to the processing of data collected about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes described above. You can prevent the storage of cookies by adjusting your browser settings; however, please note that in this case you may not be able to fully use all functions of this website.

You can also prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) by Google, as well as the processing of this data by Google, by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link:
http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de

As an alternative to the browser add-on, or within browsers on mobile devices, you can prevent tracking by Google Analytics by clicking the following link. An opt-out cookie will be set that prevents the future collection of your data when visiting this website. Disable Google Analytics.

Further information on Google Analytics and data protection can be found at:

and

2. Use of Cookies

In addition to Google Analytics cookies (see section 1), we use a session cookie and (for merchants who reach us via a sales promotion) a partner cookie.

The session cookie contains a random identifier and is required to assign consecutive page views to individual visitors who are accessing our website simultaneously. The session cookie is deleted when you close your browser window.

In the partner cookie, we store an identifier that identifies our sales partners. Using the partner cookie, we can determine which sales partner referred a merchant to us who later registers for one of our services. The partner cookie has a lifespan of 300 days.

All cookies are only visible to our server and not to third-party websites that you may visit later.

You can disable the storage of cookies in your browser, restrict them to certain websites, or configure your browser to notify you when a cookie is about to be stored. You can also delete cookies from your PC at any time.

3. Log Files

When you access an individual page, web servers automatically record the name of the retrieved file, date and time of access, volume of data transferred, any error messages, and possibly the operating system and browser software of your computer, as well as the website from which you visit us. Log file data is used for the purposes listed in section 1 and to ensure system security and protect against misuse (e.g. detection and prevention of hacker attacks).

4. Contact Form

We store and use the data you enter in the contact form, such as name, email address, subject, and message text, for the purpose of individual communication and processing your request. Data transmission between your browser and our server takes place via an encrypted SSL connection.

5. Hosting

Our websites are operated (hosted) by us on our own servers. These are located in an ISO 27001-certified data center in Germany.

7. Facebook

Privacy Policy for the Use of Facebook Plugins (Like Button)

Our pages include plugins of the social network Facebook, 1601 South California Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA. You can recognize Facebook plugins by the Facebook logo or the “Like” button on our page. An overview of Facebook plugins can be found at:
http://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/

When you visit our pages, the plugin establishes a direct connection between your browser and the Facebook server. Facebook thereby receives the information that you have visited our site with your IP address. If you click the Facebook “Like” button while logged into your Facebook account, you can link the content of our pages to your Facebook profile. This allows Facebook to associate your visit to our pages with your user account.

We would like to point out that, as the provider of these pages, we have no knowledge of the content of the data transmitted or how Facebook uses it. Further information can be found in Facebook’s privacy policy at:
http://de-de.facebook.com/policy.php

If you do not want Facebook to associate your visit to our pages with your Facebook user account, please log out of your Facebook account.

8. Google+

Privacy Policy for the Use of Google +1

Collection and Sharing of Information:
Using the Google +1 button, you can publish information worldwide. Via the Google +1 button, you and other users receive personalized content from Google and its partners. Google stores both the information that you have given +1 to content and information about the page you viewed when clicking +1.

Your +1s may be displayed as references together with your profile name and photo in Google services, such as search results or your Google profile, or in other places on websites and ads on the internet. Google records information about your +1 activities to improve Google services for you and others.

To use the Google +1 button, you need a publicly visible Google profile that includes at least the name chosen for the profile. This name is used across all Google services. In some cases, this name may replace another name you used when sharing content via your Google account. The identity of your Google profile may be shown to users who know your email address or have other identifying information about you.

Use of Collected Information:
In addition to the purposes described above, the information you provide is used in accordance with applicable Google privacy policies. Google may publish aggregated statistics about users’ +1 activities or share them with users and partners, such as publishers, advertisers, or affiliated websites.

We would like to point out that, as the provider of the pages, we have no knowledge of the content of the transmitted data or how Twitter uses it. Further information can be found in Twitter’s privacy policy at:

12. Klarna – Invoice Purchase / Installment Purchase

When you use Klarna, we collect your personal data in two ways: personal data you provide when interacting with us, and personal data we collect about you from various sources (e.g. credit agencies, fraud prevention agencies, merchants, public databases).

Personal data you provide to us may include, for example:

  • Your contact and identification information – required to verify your identity, provide support, or conduct a credit check before granting credit.

  • Your payment information – required to carry out transactions.

Personal data we collect about you may include, for example:

  • Name, date of birth, place of birth, and financial information – to prevent fraud, confirm creditworthiness, or screen your information against lists of politically exposed persons.

  • Information about interactions between you and Klarna – such as how you use our services or your repayment history, enabling us to tailor products, provide support, or conduct credit risk assessments.

As we continuously strive to improve your shopping experience, we use your data for various purposes, including to:

  • verify your identity when you use our services or contact us

  • communicate with you as our customer

  • provide the services you request

  • give you an overview of your financial situation

  • assess your suitability for Klarna products and services

  • provide you with information about our products

  • conduct customer satisfaction surveys

  • perform credit and fraud checks

  • carry out debt collection services

  • prevent IT attacks

  • comply with regulatory and legal requirements

As mentioned above, we believe your data should improve your daily life. Below are some examples of how you benefit from the personal data you provide:

Paying with Klarna:
If you use one of our options “Pay now”, “Pay later”, or “Slice It”, or apply for a Klarna card, we conduct internal and third-party credit checks and retrieve your contact and identification data and interaction information. This helps us better understand your financial situation and suitability for certain products so we can offer you the best options.

Autofill:
When you decide to purchase a specific item, we offer you the option to store your contact, identification, and payment information so you don’t have to re-enter it each time. You can disable this feature in the “Autofill settings” during checkout or by contacting us by email.

Klarna App:
When you use the Klarna app via mobile app or web portal, we collect information about your interactions with the app, previous purchases, transactions via linked bank accounts, and items you liked or saved. This allows us to improve the app experience and provide a more personalized in-app experience, such as tracking deliveries, notifying you of price drops, reminding you of upcoming payments, or giving you an overview of your personal financial situation.

Support:
To provide efficient and personalized support, we collect your contact and identification information and an overview of previous correspondence. This helps us answer your questions and process requests faster.

Secure Shopping:
When you use Klarna services, we collect contact and identification information, payment and financial information, device information, information about delivered goods and services, and interaction data to protect you from fraud and money laundering attempts. This ensures a secure shopping experience.

Communication and Offers:
If you have used Klarna before, we also collect contact and identification information, information about previous purchases and support interactions, and device information to inform you about new offers, products, and updates. You can easily opt out of this option.

Depending on the service you wish to use, we may need to share some of your data with selected third parties, such as partners (cloud computing platforms, payment service providers, or online sales platforms) or authorities. This may be done to securely store data, verify your identity, complete transactions, comply with legal requirements, prevent fraud, conduct credit risk assessments, or communicate with you via third-party platforms (e.g. Facebook or Twitter).

We invest heavily in our advanced security system, which continuously monitors our systems for suspicious activity. Before developing our products, we assess all potential risks and implement necessary safeguards to ensure your security. We always encrypt your data where appropriate and ensure that only authorized persons have access. As a financial institution, we are also required to have our security measures regularly audited by external parties.
