MARIS Mariflex PU 40 600 ml – high-modulus polyurethane sealant and adhesive in a foil pack

Mariflex PU 40 is a single-component, thixotropic, and permanently elastic polyurethane sealant with a high modulus of elasticity. It is applied cold, cures with atmospheric moisture, and is suitable for sealing control joints, filling cracks, and bonding building materials – for example, insulation boards onto waterproofing membranes.

Scope of delivery: 600 ml foil pack, gray color. Also available as a 310 ml cartridge.

Consumption

Consumption depends on the joint or crack volume. Calculation example: One 600 ml foil pack is sufficient for approx. 12 linear meters for a 10 × 5 mm joint.

Application of Mariflex PU 40

1. Prepare the joint

Joint flanks must be clean, dry, and stable; concrete must be at least 28 days old and have max. 5 % moisture. Perform a compatibility test in one area beforehand.

2. Priming (if necessary)

Only if the adhesion test is insufficient: prime absorbent flanks with Mariseal 710, and non-absorbent flanks with Aquaprimer.

3. Backfilling

Insert a closed-cell PE foam backer rod so that the sealant only adheres to the flanks and no bubbles form.

4. Application

Apply bubble-free using a sausage gun, e.g., the Schuller 600 ml sausage gun; fill wide joints in three passes (both flanks, then the center).

5. Smoothing

Press and smooth with soapy water and a jointing tool; remove masking tape immediately. Can be painted over with acrylic or dispersion paint after full curing (test beforehand).
