MAPEI Mapegum WPS – ready-to-use, fast-drying liquid waterproofing for use under tiles

Mapegum WPS is a single-component, fast-drying, dispersion-based liquid waterproofing membrane for interior use. It is used as a bonded waterproofing system under tiles and slabs in bathrooms, showers, and wet rooms and is suitable for moisture exposure classes up to W4 according to ÖNORM B 3407.

Scope of delivery: Container with 5 kg or 10 kg (variant selectable), ready to use.

Consumption

Consumption is at least 1.2 kg/m² for a 0.5 mm dry layer thickness. A 5 kg container is therefore sufficient for approx. 4 m², and a 10 kg container for approx. 8 m² of surface area to be waterproofed.

Application of Mapegum WPS

1. Prepare the substrate

The substrate must be load-bearing, clean, and free of dust. Prime absorbent substrates with MAPEI Primer G.

2. Seal corners and connections

Embed corners, connection joints, and movement joints into the fresh waterproofing using MAPEI Mapeband PE 120.

3. First coat

Apply the first coat of Mapegum WPS evenly using a brush, roller, or trowel.

4. Second coat

After drying, apply the second coat until a minimum dry layer thickness of 0.5 mm is achieved.

5. Tiling

After 12–24 hours, tiling can commence, e.g., using MAPEI Keraflex Extra S1.
