Our stone carpet complete set for indoor use contains the essential materials for installation on horizontal surfaces:

• Primer for preparing the substrate
• Quartz sand for broadcasting onto the primer
• TECHPUR marble gravel 2–4 mm in the selected color
• Solvent-free TECHPUR binder for horizontal surfaces
• Smoothing agent for clean and even application

The required quantity of marble gravel and binder is calculated according to the specified area using our consumption calculator.

Any potentially required sealing and an optional pore filler are not included in the complete set, as these are selected individually based on the substrate and area of application. A special binder is also required for vertical surfaces.

An indoor stone carpet can be laid on firm, stable, and appropriately prepared substrates such as concrete, screed, or existing tiles. The substrate must be clean, dry, free of loose particles, and suitable for the intended structure.

Depending on the existing substrate, additional preparatory measures may be required. If you are unsure about the correct structure, we would be happy to advise you personally.

Yes, a stone carpet can also be installed yourself. Our complete stone carpet kit is specially put together for the easiest possible application and is therefore also suitable for DIY enthusiasts with no prior experience.

For a stone carpet with a marble pebble grain size of 2–4 mm, we recommend a layer thickness of approx. 8 mm. This layer thickness is optimal for most applications on horizontal surfaces and also forms the basis for our consumption calculator.

For special requirements or different substrates, a greater layer thickness may be necessary. It is important to apply the stone carpet evenly at the intended thickness and to compact it cleanly.

Yes, a stone carpet can generally be laid over existing tiles, provided they are firmly bonded to the substrate and have sufficient load-bearing capacity.

Before application, the tiles must be appropriately cleaned and prepared to ensure reliable adhesion of the subsequent system build-up. Loose or damaged tiles must be professionally repaired beforehand.

If you are unsure, we recommend consulting with us regarding the existing substrate before proceeding with the application.

Whether waterproofing under a stone carpet is necessary depends on the specific area of application and the existing substrate. A professional waterproofing system is required, especially in wet and permanently wet areas such as showers.

The stone carpet itself does not replace any necessary waterproofing. In addition, a suitable pore filler should be used for wet and permanently wet areas.

For vertical surfaces such as risers, skirting boards, or wall areas, a special binder for vertical application is required. The binder included in the complete set is intended exclusively for horizontal surfaces.

For vertical surfaces, the marble gravel is mixed with the TECHPUR Stone Binder Vertical and then applied evenly to the appropriately prepared and primed substrate and smoothed out.
