MAPEI Mapedrain Monokorn – free-draining screed and bedding mortar, 25 kg

Mapedrain Monokorn is a factory-produced dry mortar based on pozzolanic cement with a defined grain fraction that is mixed only with water. It forms a highly water-permeable mortar bed with very low capillary action – this reduces the risk of efflorescence and frost damage on balconies and terraces.

• Water addition: approx. 1.6–1.8 l per 25 kg
• Consistency: earth-moist to slightly plastic
• Layer thickness: min. 5 cm; 7–10 cm for vehicular loads
• Pot life: approx. 1–2 hours
• Walkable and ready for laying: after approx. 24 hours
• Load-bearing: light after approx. 7 days, fully after approx. 28 days
• Application temperature: +5 °C to +30 °C
• Storage: 12 months, dry

Consumption

Approx. 16 kg/m² per cm of layer thickness – at 5 cm, therefore approx. 80 kg/m² (a good 3 bags).

Application

1. Create a slope screed (min. 1.5 %) and waterproof, e.g., with MAPEI Mapelastic.
2. Lay out a separating layer or drainage mat.
3. Mix with cold water in a forced-action or free-fall mixer, apply, screed off, and compact moderately (bays max. 5 × 5 m).
4. Cover and protect from rain, frost, and sun.
5. Lay and grout the covering after approx. 24 hours.
